We were very saddened to hear the news today, that indefatigable equal and civil rights fighter and Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsberg lost her battle with Cancer and passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends.
Justice Ginsberg, RBG to Millions of supporters and admirers, was a champion for Womens equality and Civil rights for all people. One of the Supreme Court’s longest serving Justices at 27 years, she has had a major and lasting impact on many decisions that affected the lives of literally Millions around this country, and certainly materially impacted all Women and members of the LGBTQQI community.
“Our nation has lost a justice of historic stature,” Chief Justice John Roberts said. “We at the Supreme Court have lost a cherished colleague. Today we mourn but with confidence that future generations will remember Ruth Bader Ginsburg as we knew her, a tireless and resolute champion of justice.”
The Castro neighborhood held a hastily organized but well attended memorial this evening to remember Justice Ginsberg, her momentous and incredible life, and the huge impact she had on the Supreme Court and the country and Castro Patrol was on hand.
