The organizers of the Day of Decision event which celebrated the Supreme Court of the United States 5-4 decision in support of marriage equality provided the following e-mail to thank Castro Community On Patrol for our assistance in the planning and support.
“Dear Greggy and Ken,
Now that the dust has settled from Pride Week, I wanted to take a moment to send you our heartfelt thanks for all your help in making #DecisionDay possible. Seriously, we couldn’t have pulled it off without your help. Your long-established relationships with the SFPD, city agencies, and Castro merchants smoothed the way. Your diligence, expertise and professionalism kept planning on the right track. And your hard work and watchful eyes kept the event safe and pleasant for everyone.
Please also convey our deepest thanks to your Castro Community on Patrol volunteers; an event like this wouldn’t have been possible without them. They have our deepest gratitude.
It was an historic night on Castro Street, and we will always be grateful to you for making it possible, and sharing the joy with us. It was a night we will never forget.
With joy and gratitude,
Joanie Juster
#DecisionDay Organizing Committee“
