The San Francisco Police Department is pleased to announce the commencement of a Modular III Basic Academy Course beginning Tuesday, May 6, 2014.
This is the first time the Department has presented this type of course in at least 20 years to the best of our recollection. The Modular Basic Academy is the same as our regular Academy except it is broken up into Modular III, II and I courses which are offered at different times. The course was developed for those individuals interested in becoming Reserve Officers. At the conclusion of Modular III, a person is eligible to be selected as a Reserve Officer once successfully passing the same requirements as a Q2 applicant.
The Modular III Basic Academy course will be held at the San Francisco Police Academy, 350 Amber Driver on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (18:00-22:00) and all day Saturday (08:00-17:00) from May 6, 2014 through July 17, 2014. The non-refundable tuition is $1,765 + uniform costs in addition.
Entry-level topics include ethics, law, evidence, search and seizure, first aid, emergency vehicle operations, arrest and control, use of force and firearms. Participants will also earn college units.
